8 Ways the Holy Spirit Helps

For many believers, the Holy Spirit is the most misunderstood—and often overlooked—member of the Trinity. I’ve seen it time and again in churches and conversations: we speak freely about God the Father and Jesus the Son, but when it comes to the Holy Spirit, there’s hesitation, confusion, or silence. That’s why Francis Chan’s book The Forgotten Godresonated so deeply with me, and why I felt compelled to bring this conversation to the forefront. In this episode, I wanted to help believers reclaim an intimate, biblical understanding of who the Holy Spirit is and why He matters.

One key verse that has always anchored my view of the Holy Spirit is 2 Corinthians 13:14. It ends with Paul’s words, “...the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.” That phrase isn’t just a benediction—it’s a theological invitation. The Greek word for “fellowship” is koinonia, and it means far more than casual companionship. It speaks of deep, shared intimacy and ongoing relationship. My heart in sharing this message was to encourage others to not just acknowledge the Holy Spirit, but to walk with Him, to truly know Him personally and relationally.

Too often, the Holy Spirit is perceived as a force or an energy—something abstract. But the truth is, the Holy Spirit is a person, the third person of the Trinity. In the Greek, the word pneuma means “breath” or “wind,” and it beautifully illustrates how the Spirit brings life to us—He is the very breath of God, breathed into our spirits. In John 14:16, Jesus describes the Spirit as “another advocate,” someone just like Himself, who would come alongside us to guide, comfort, and empower. That’s the Holy Spirit I want people to know—not a distant mystery, but a present help.

In this episode, I also set the stage for what’s coming next: a deeper dive into eight specific ways the Holy Spirit helps us as believers. My goal is to take this from theology to practical application—because a relationship with the Holy Spirit isn’t just doctrinal; it’s transformational. I believe that when we embrace the Spirit’s presence, we live with more power, clarity, and intimacy with God. If you’ve ever felt like something’s missing in your spiritual walk, perhaps it’s not something—it’s someone. And He’s been here all along.
