Can You REALLY See Into the Spirit Realm? | Learning to Lead - Blake Healey
In this episode of Learning to Lead, I had the privilege of sitting down with Blake Healy—missionary, pastor’s son, and author—who has had the extraordinary ability to see into the spirit realm since childhood. From a young age, Blake would casually share with his parents the things he saw, not realizing they were spiritual visions. It wasn’t until he was twelve, after attending a church that taught on the gifts of the Spirit, that he realized his experiences were more than just imagination—they were a gift from God.
As we talked, Blake shared how this realization transformed how he approached his spiritual life. Once he understood the nature of his gift, he felt the freedom and confidence to be honest with his parents and church leaders about the depth of what he could see. One story that stood out was his early encounter with an angel, which he initially saw as a protective presence. Over time, Blake came to see it as something more—a powerful display of God’s authority and care. His journey of learning to interpret what he saw has shaped not only his faith but also his understanding of leadership and ministry.
What I found especially insightful was Blake’s wisdom around discernment. He explained that although he has the ability to see into the spirit realm, he doesn’t always choose to engage it. He’s learned to be intentional about when to look and when to share. That level of maturity is something I believe all leaders can learn from—just because God reveals something doesn’t always mean we’re meant to speak it right away. Sometimes, leadership means listening more than speaking.
Toward the end of our conversation, Blake described a recent moment during worship where he saw massive flames filling the room—what he discerned as God’s response to the sacrificial hearts present. It was a powerful reminder that the gifts of the Spirit are not for show, but for love. They reveal God’s deep desire to connect with His people. Blake left us with this challenge: invite the Holy Spirit into your life—not to chase after the supernatural, but to draw closer to the One who gives the gifts. That’s a message I hope every leader hears loud and clear.
